Mechanic II:

Perform the functions of a Grade 4 Mechanic.\nPerform preventative maintenance and repairs on trailer refrigeration.\nPerform simple and complex mechanical and electrical repairs.\nMust be able to perform the following repairs without supervision:\nDiagnose, remove, repair, replace or rebuild:\nclutches\nwater pumps\ntires\ntractor suspension\nbody repairs\nrear differentials\ndrive lines\ntransmissions\nwheel seals\nbrake systems\nDiagnose and tune up or make repairs on diesel engines.\nPerform front wheel alignments.\nPerform axle alignments on trailers.\nTroubleshoot cooling systems.\nConduct diagnostic tests.\nCut or weld using cutting torch and welding machine.\nRead, understand and use service bulletins and technical manuals.\nMaintain shop tools.\nComplete all paper work and computer input.\nComply effectively with company work and safety rules.\nEffectively communicate both written and orally with supervisor and peers.\nFollow directions.\nWork independently and in a team environment.\nBe trained and certified to operate any required equipment within 30 days after hire.\nComply with company attendance policy.\nMaintain a flexible work schedule to meet the changing needs of the job. Have High School Diploma or GED. Trade school graduate in heavy duty diesel repairs, and/or refrigeration\nclasses. Beginning level is preferred.\nHave 2 years job experience on diesel repairs, tractor- trailer, refrigeration maintenance and repairs.\nOne year documented experience in fleet maintenance or one-year employment with company at upper scale of Class C Technician.\nPosses basic hand tools (up to \" drive) and tool storage.\nPosses or acquire within 1 year from date of hire a current ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) (Test T8).\nPossess a Valid Class C Drivers License.
