This role requires the ability to read schematics, use diagnostic tools, and inspect hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure equipment functionality. The Service Technician will document service work, communicate with customers and team members, and follow all safety procedures while maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Success in this role requires strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.   • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school certification in diesel mechanics, hydraulics, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in mechanical repair, preferably with construction equipment or other heavy equipment.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL may be preferred depending on dealership requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair equipment using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment.
  • The ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Strong work ethic and a high level of integrity
  • Great attention to detail and sound problem-solving abilities
  • Heavy equipment experience is a plus
  • Completion of a related technology program is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various environmental conditions. Supervisory Responsibilities N/A Essential Functions
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Ditch Witch equipment, including trenchers, drills, vacuum excavators, and other machinery.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative services on equipment.
  • Inspect and test equipment to ensure proper functionality before and after repairs.
  • Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals to perform repairs accurately.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Document service work, including parts used and labor hours, in company systems.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
  • Communicate with customers and team members regarding service updates, equipment condition, and recommendations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working on equipment.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on new equipment, technology, and service techniques.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently stand, bend, stretch, and walk for long periods of time. Vision requirements include color vision, reading a computer monitor, managing a cellular device. The employee must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Work Environment Work is frequently performed outside of a temperature-controlled facility. Level of noise varies in this fast-paced, busy work environment.
