Job Summary We are looking for a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of our diesel trucks. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, holds a valid CDL, and isn't afraid of hands-on, heavy-duty repair work.

Core Responsibilities Company Onboarding:

Diesel Engine Repair:

Perform routine, preventative, and corrective maintenance on diesel engines to ensure optimal fleet performance and minimize downtime.

Air Brake Systems:

Inspect, diagnose, and repair air brake systems in compliance with federal and state safety regulations.

Tire Maintenance:

Safely mount, dismount, and change large heavy-duty dump truck tires.

Diagnostics & Testing:

Utilize your CDL to test drive commercial vehicles before and after repairs to accurately diagnose issues and verify that equipment is road-ready.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date service logs and maintenance records for all assigned vehicles.

Safety Compliance:

Maintain a clean and safe shop environment, adhering strictly to OSHA and company safety protocols.

General Shop Duties:

Perform other related maintenance and shop duties as assigned by the Fleet Maintenance Manager to support team operations.

Required Qualifications License:

Maintain a valid Class [A or B] Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.

Mechanical Experience:

Minimum of[2-3 years of proven, hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines and heavy-duty air brake systems.

Tire Handling:

Experience safely changing and managing heavy-duty commercial/dump truck tires.

Tools:

Must possess a strong understanding of standard shop tools and diagnostic equipment (having your own tools is a plus).

Competencies:

Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Preferred Qualifications Heavy Equipment Experience:

Experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, dozers) is highly valued, but not required.

Certifications:

ASE Medium-Heavy Truck Certifications or specialized diesel training.

Physical & Environmental Requirements Heavy Lifting:

Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 75-100 lbs (such as heavy-duty tires, brake drums, and engine components) safely and often.

Mobility & Posture:

Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours per shift). The work regularly requires bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling under commercial vehicles.

Dexterity & Reach:

Requires strong manual dexterity to handle both large power tools (like 1-inch impact wrenches) and small engine parts, as well as the ability to reach above shoulder level.

Working Conditions:

Comfortable working in a typical heavy-duty shop environment, which includes exposure to loud noises, vibrations, dust, grease, exhaust fumes, and varying indoor/outdoor temperatures.

Vision & Hearing:

Adequate vision (including depth perception) and hearing to safely test-drive commercial vehicles, operate heavy shop machinery, and properly diagnose mechanical issues.
