2988837198-2 Apply for this job now Job Description GFL Environmental is seeking a 2nd-Shift Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair a fleet of waste and recycling trucks and related equipment. You'll perform scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and brake systems, and complete safe, quality repairs to keep essential services running. Working in a safety-first, fast-paced shop, you'll collaborate with operators and supervisors, document all work performed, and support environmental sustainability in the local community while growing your technical skills and career. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair waste and recycling trucks and related equipment Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, brake, and mechanical systems Document all maintenance and repairs accurately in work order systems Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations Collaborate with drivers and supervisors to address equipment issues and downtime Respond to urgent repair needs to keep fleet operational for 2nd shift Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop work area Required Skills Diesel engine diagnostics Hydraulic systems repair Brake inspection and service Electrical troubleshooting (12/24 V) Preventive maintenance (PM) Reading repair manuals and schematics Use of diagnostic software and tools Welding and fabrication basics Safety and OSHA compliance Maintenance recordkeeping
