Description:
A Diesel Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and maintains diesel-powered vehicles (Commercial trucks/ Fleet vehicles/ Heavy duty machinery) equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Responsibilities Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, and systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics. Update vehicle records by noting services and repairs on the computer. Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and performing preventative maintenance. Qualifications Two plus years of experience preferred Certified diesel tech. High school diploma or GED. Completion of a diesel technology or automotive repair program. Experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines (typically 1-5+ years, depending on the position). Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel, electrical, hydraulic, air brake, and cooling systems. Proficiency using diagnostic software, scan tools, and hand/power tools. Ability to perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills for documenting repairs and accessing service information. Ability to lift 50-100 pounds and work in physically demanding environments. Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed.

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
