Job Description
Diesel Mechanic | Milton, NH Full-Time | Monday-Friday $38.00-$40.00 per hour, based on experience $1,000 Sign-On Bonus for Qualified Hires Index Packaging is looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our Maintenance team in Milton, NH. This position helps maintain and repair our fleet of tractors, trailers, and other diesel-powered equipment to keep our operation running safely and efficiently. We're looking for someone with strong mechanical experience who can contribute to the shop while continuing to build their skills in heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance.
What You'll Do:
Maintain and repair tractors and trailers Diagnose mechanical issues and complete necessary repairs Perform routine and preventative maintenance Inspect tractors and trailers and identify needed repairs Troubleshoot and repair truck, trailer, and air brake systems based on experience and training Use diesel diagnostic equipment and software Prioritize repairs to help maximize fleet availability Maintain and repair other diesel-powered equipment Communicate with drivers regarding maintenance and repair needs Order parts and maintain inventory of commonly used items Safely operate shop tools, lifts, and equipment Work collaboratively with the Maintenance teamWhat We're Looking For:
Previous professional mechanical repair experience Diesel, tractor-trailer, heavy-equipment, fleet, or automotive experience preferred Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills Ability to perform repairs independently within your level of training and experience Willingness to continue developing heavy-duty diesel and truck/trailer repair skills Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Reliable transportation Personal toolbox Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position NH Inspection License and air brake experience preferred, but training may be available for the right candidateTraining & Development:
Index Packaging is committed to developing the skills of our Maintenance team. Company-paid training and certification opportunities are available based on the needs of the position and the employee's existing qualifications.Training may include:
NH Motor Vehicle Inspection License Air brake systems Diesel diagnostic laptop/software Column truck lift Eagle Hook safety Forklift certification Additional equipment, safety, or technical training as needed Employees are expected to complete required training within established timeframes. Index Packaging will coordinate and pay for required company-approved training when applicable.Physical Requirements:
