Job Description

Pay:

$90,000 to $120,000 per year estimated annual cash opportunity with earned bonuses and overtime Don't Just Run a Shop. Build One. Most foreman jobs hand you somebody else's shop, somebody else's habits, and somebody else's mess. This one hands you the keys to a commercial truck operation that's being built right now, and asks you to build it the right way. SJR Commercial is the newest venture from Sansone Jr's, a three-generation, family-owned New Jersey auto group. Every box truck, cutaway, van, pickup, and work truck we bring in runs through one shop, and we need the leader of that shop: a hands-on diesel and truck tech who can diagnose and fix anything that rolls in, find a better way when the usual way isn't working, write the process everyone else follows, and teach the next generation of techs how to do it. This isn't a desk-only service manager job, and it isn't just another bay. You'll turn wrenches, own the schedule, run parts and vendors, lead two developing techs, and have the authority to stop any truck that isn't safe. You'll also have a family behind you that believes in investing in its people, including your very own Car Motivators coach. If you've spent years as the person everyone walks over to when a truck has them stumped, and you've always thought, "If this were my shop, I'd run it differently," this is your shot. Pay $40 to $48 per hour based on verified experience and credentials Overtime at 1.5 times your regular rate for hours over 40 Up to $1,250 per month in performance bonuses Retention awards of $1,000 at 90 days, $1,500 at six months, and $2,500 at one year ($5,000 in your first year) $150 monthly tool allowance after 30 days Paid or reimbursed training: ASE testing, annual inspector and brake inspector qualifications, CDL, and job-related courses Base pay alone works out to about $83,200 to $99,840 a year at 40 hours. With earned bonuses and reasonable overtime, the estimated annual cash opportunity is $90,000 to $120,000. Actual earnings vary. A Bonus You Can Actually Calculate No mystery math. Your monthly bonus comes from five measures, and missing one only affects that one: Arrival control: $250 for logging and inspecting incoming trucks by the next business day Retail-ready flow: $350 for moving trucks through repair and out the door on time Repair quality: $300 for keeping comebacks at or below 3 percent Inventory and keys: $175 for knowing where every truck and every key is Documentation and training: $175 for a current daily board, clean repair orders, and training your team A

• Day in the Life

• No two days look the same, but a typical one might go like this: First thing: Walk the lot, check in new arrivals, and update the retail-ready board so everyone knows where every unit stands.

Morning huddle:

A quick check-in with sales leadership on promise dates, so nobody commits a truck the shop can't deliver.

Set the day:

Assign trips and tasks to your two techs and line up parts and outside vendors.

Turn wrenches:

Chase down a no-start on a box truck, repair a liftgate, and double-check a backup camera install one of your techs just finished.

Road test and release:

Verify the repair, sign off, and send a work-ready truck to a customer who's counting on it.

Build the operation:

Tighten up the intake checklist, teach battery testing, or map a faster path for trucks stuck waiting on parts. What You'll Build The shop's playbook: intake, inspection, repair priority, parts, vendors, quality control, and final release, written and running the way you design them Every truck's path from arrival to ready: inspect it, build the repair plan, do the work, road test it, and release it only when it's truly ready to earn money Hands-on repairs across diesel and gas powertrains, electrical, brakes, steering, suspension, cooling, HVAC, lighting, liftgates, and commercial bodies Upfits and installs, including accessories, lighting, auxiliary equipment, and minor fabrication Your team: train two developing techs on maintenance, installs, inspection assistance, and safe shop habits, and move them up a defined skill ladder The daily status board sales leadership relies on Parts ordering, outside vendor work, pickups and deliveries, and a clean, safe, organized shop Your First 90 Days First 30 days: Map the lot and lock down key control, get every unit on the status board, put intake and retail-ready checklists in place, assess your two techs' skills, and bring your top safety and aging priorities to leadership. Days 31 to 60: Get the parts and vendor workflow running, hit 95 percent or better on weekly audits, start basic service training with your team, and start driving cycle time down. Days 61 to 90: Reach 98 percent location and key accuracy, measure your comeback rate, hit the retail-ready cycle target, and qualify each tech on their Level One tasks. Who We Are Sansone Jr's is a family-owned auto group that has served New Jersey drivers for over 40 years and is now three generations strong. In 2009, Paul Sansone Jr. bought his father's Neptune dealership and renamed it Sansone Jr's 66 Automall. Since then the group has grown to Kia, Nissan, and Mitsubishi stores in Neptune, Keyport, and East Windsor and has earned multiple Kia President's Awards, one of Kia's top honors for customer satisfaction, operations, and sales. Paul's hiring philosophy has never changed: hire nice people, then give them the leadership and training to succeed. You can see it in how this family gives back. Paul and his wife Chris created Hope for a Ride, a program that partners with local churches and community groups to donate vehicles to families who need them. The group's own technicians and salespeople repair those cars and show up in person to hand over the keys. Sansone Jr's has been honored twice as an Auto Success Champion of Charity. SJR Commercial is the group's newest venture, launched by Paul Sansone III, known around the stores as PS3. A third-generation dealer and CBT News 40 Under 40 honoree, PS3 turned a business plan he wrote in college into Sansone Jr's Keyport Kia. In its first three months, the store more than doubled its new car sales objective, and most of his team had followed him there from his previous store. SJR Commercial carries that same entrepreneurial spirit, with a mission to help entrepreneurs succeed by giving them the vehicles, financing, and support they need to build businesses of their own. Now that division needs a shop, and someone to build it right. Why You'll Love It Here Real authority. You can put any truck on safety hold and stop it from moving or delivering. A delivery date never outranks safety. Room to build something that's yours. This division started as one entrepreneur's idea. The shop is the next piece, and you're the one who gets to build it. Nice people, on purpose. This family has always hired good people first. You'll work alongside a team that likes being here. Your pay plan in writing before day one. And the rules won't get changed on you after the fact. A career path for the people you train. Your techs have a published ladder to Transport Technician, Lead Transport Technician, or Service Technician. When you develop people here, they have somewhere to go. Work that matters. A plumber, a landscaper, or a delivery entrepreneur can't make money with a truck sitting on our lot. Your shop decides whether they can. Wrenches that give back. Sansone Jr's technicians help repair the vehicles donated to local families through Hope for a Ride. Your Very Own Car Motivators Coach Most companies hand you a login to online training videos and call it development. Here, you get a real person in your corner. Sansone Jr's partners with Car Motivators, a leadership coaching company built for the car business, and as part of this team you'll have your very own Car Motivators coach.

Your coaching starts with you:

what you want out of your career right now and where you want to be down the road. From there, you and your coach build an action plan together, commit to it, and keep checking in so the plan actually sticks. It's all built on D.R.I.V.E.C3, the coaching framework created by Car Motivators founder Sean Kelley, author of Learn to Coach, Learn to Lead. For you, that could mean sharpening how you lead and train your techs, building the confidence to make fast calls when information is incomplete, or mapping your path from foreman to running a much bigger operation someday. "When the Car Motivators team visits our stores, everyone wants to be coached." Paul Sansone Jr., Dealer Principal" Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Paid time off 401(k) Employee vehicle discounts Your very own Car Motivators coach $150 monthly tool allowance Retention awards totaling $5,000 in your first year Paid ASE, inspector, brake inspector, and CDL training A written pay plan before your first day Performance reviews at 30, 60, and 90 days, six months, and every year The chance to take part in Hope for a Ride and other community events What We're Looking For 5+ years of hands-on medium-duty, heavy-duty, diesel, fleet, or commercial truck repair experience (military or vocational experience counts) Strong diagnostics with scan tools, service information, meters, and systematic testing Lead tech, foreman, fleet maintenance leader, or working service manager experience An entrepreneurial, outside-the-box problem solver who sees a broken process and fixes it instead of working around it The patience and standards to teach young techs the right way, not the fast way A friendly, team-first attitude. We hire nice people first Clear written habits: estimates, work orders, parts records, and inspection records Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and the ability to drive a manual transmission

Preferred:

CDL Class A or B with a current medical certificate, ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications, annual inspection or brake inspector qualifications, welding and fabrication skills, and experience with box trucks, cutaways, vans, liftgates, refrigeration units, or auxiliary power systems. Questions You're Probably Asking Is this a desk job? No. You'll spend real time turning wrenches. You'll also lead the operation, and the balance is part of what makes this role different. How big is the team? You'll start with two developing techs who report to you, and you'll train them as the division grows. Do I need a CDL? It's strongly preferred, not required. If you don't have one, CDL training is paid or reimbursed. Who will I report to? The Head of Commercial Sales and Finance, with a quick daily check-in so the shop and sales stay on the same page. What will my schedule look like? Full-time, in line with our other Sansone Jr's service departments: Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 5, with Saturday coverage from 8 to 4 as the operation requires and Sundays closed. Expect some early starts, occasional road service, and limited travel when the operation needs it. Get to Know Us Everything we do shows up on our pages. Take a look before you apply:
