Position Summary:
The Heavy Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on a fleet of commercial trailers, dump trucks, and concrete ready-mix trucks. This position ensures all equipment is maintained in a safe, reliable, and operational condition while minimizing downtime and supporting efficient fleet operations. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience with diesel-powered equipment, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Job Duties:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy diesel equipment. Perform pm's on diesel engines, brake systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrains. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment. Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately. Ensure equipment meets DOT and company safety standards. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of experience repairing heavy-duty trucks, trailers, or diesel equipment. Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, air brakes, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance practices. Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures. Valid drivers license. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work. Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.
