Job Title:
Trailer Mechanic Job Description Join a skilled shop team as a Trailer Mechanic responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of specialized trailers, including RGN, low boys, detachable trailers, flatbeds, and step decks. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and braking systems, and ensure all trailers meet DOT and FHWA regulatory standards. This role involves hands-on work in a shop environment, occasional driving to pick up parts, and accurate documentation of all maintenance activities using automated systems. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience working on trailers, trucks, or small motors and performing preventative maintenance. Hands-on experience with trailer repair, including flatbeds, low boys, and RGNs. Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience with diesel mechanic work and small engine repair. Proficiency with air brakes, air suspensions, and ABS (anti-lock braking systems). Experience working with hydraulic systems on trailers and related equipment. Ability to perform inspections and preventative maintenance on trailers and fleet equipment. Basic welding skills for minor repairs and structural reinforcement. Comfort working with automated maintenance or fleet management computer systems. Ability to document work clearly and accurately in work orders or maintenance systems. Capability to work independently, manage workload, and follow through on tasks without constant direction. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carlisle, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
