Job Summary This is a professional shop mechanic position working Friday/Saturday/Sunday from 7:00am - 7:30pm. It involves a broad range of mechanical, fabrication, welding, etc. skills. The majority of work is conducted at our Lititz, PA based facility although occasional off-site trips for road repairs or other errands may be required. Most of those occasional off-site instances are within 150 miles of our facility although very rare overnight runs may be required. Mechanical, fabrication, and welding work is performed on Risser's Poultry equipment including truck tractors, trailers, and carts used for cargo hauling. Other varied maintenance skills similar to an industrial environment are also involved including maintenance and repairs to tractor and trailer hydraulics and lift gate systems. Close interactions with truck drivers are expected since equipment maintenance and appearance are important to the Risser's Poultry brand. Safety, relative to both the condition of the equipment and working in the shop, is of paramount importance in all cases. Responsibilities 2.1 Inspect vehicle and required equipment to determine safe operating condition. 2.2 Repair the vehicle and equipment in compliance with all local, state, federal, and company rules and regulations and in accordance with general accepted practices of quality workmanship. 2.3 Complete all paperwork in a neat and legible format and submit it in a timely manner. 2.4 Perform diagnostic tests for routine maintenance procedures and determine a course of action for damaged parts and systems. 2.5 Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems. 2.6 Repair malfunctioning engine components, chassis components, change brakes, replace tires, repair lights, repair exhaust systems, replace worn-out parts and change oil and hydraulic fluids based on preventive maintenance schedules and/or as required. 2.7 Completes fabrication type operations such as cutting, welding, drilling, riveting, etc utilizing torch units, weld units, and other power equipment units as required. 2.8 Make adjustments and alignments to control linkages, clutches, etc as required. 2.9 Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs, etc. as required. 2.10 Assist in loading and unloading cargo in rare occasions as required. 2.11 Assist in wash bay as required. 2.12 Hook and unhook trailers by raising / lowering trailer landing gear, connecting or disconnecting air / electrical lines, engaging / disengaging fifth-wheel locks, etc. when required. 2.13 Report any damage to company owned property immediately to your Supervisor. 2.14 Report any damage to customer owned property immediately to your Supervisor. 2.15 Report any accidents immediately to your Supervisor even if no visible damage is evident. 2.16 Report any traffic violations or parking violations immediately to your Supervisor. 2.17 Wear proper footwear and apparel while on the job. 2.18 Supply own shop hand tools to be able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the job. Experience 1.1 Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Driver's License for the classification of vehicle being driven over the road and the driver's license must be issued by the state of residence. Any age exceptions based on extenuating circumstances must be approved by the Operations Manager. 1.2 Must have a minimum of one year of verifiable shop mechanic experience. Any experience exceptions based on extenuating circumstances must be approved by the Operations Manager. 1.3 Must have a permanent home address and have telephone access where you can easily be contacted. 1.4 Must be able to pass Drug Screening. 1.5 Must be able to pass pre-employment job testing including use of welding and power equipment. 1.6 Must be completely familiar with all State and Federal rules and regulations governing the operation of commercial vehicles. 1.7 Must be available for occasional overnight trips and varied work starting and completion hours based on weekly schedule requirements.

Pay:

$30.00 - $36.00 per hour
