Position Summary The Diesel Technician B is an experienced technician capable of independently performing preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and intermediate repairs on Class 8 tractors and trailers. The B Technician is expected to diagnose common equipment failures, determine appropriate repairs, complete those repairs without continuous supervision, and recognize when advanced diagnostic assistance is required. Primary Responsibilities Independently perform complete tractor and trailer preventive maintenance inspections. Diagnose and repair air brake systems. Perform brake, drum, rotor, chamber, slack adjuster, and related repairs. Diagnose and repair air leaks and pneumatic system problems. Perform wheel-end inspections and repairs. Diagnose and repair suspension and steering components. Perform intermediate electrical troubleshooting using meters and diagnostic equipment. Diagnose starting and charging system problems. Repair lighting, wiring, connectors, grounds, and electrical circuits. Diagnose and repair tractor and trailer ABS systems. Perform HVAC diagnosis and repair within certification requirements. Perform basic diesel engine diagnosis and repair. Perform basic emissions and aftertreatment diagnosis. Perform DEF/DPF system maintenance. Use OEM and fleet diagnostic software. Read wiring diagrams, service information, fault codes, and technical documentation. Complete DOT inspections when properly qualified. Perform road tests and verify repairs. Properly document complaint, cause, and correction on repair orders. Identify developing failures before they result in roadside breakdowns. Assist in training and supporting C-level technicians. Maintain company productivity and quality standards. Minimum Qualifications Typically 2-5 years of heavy-duty truck maintenance experience or demonstrated equivalent competency. Strong knowledge of Class 8 tractor and trailer systems. DOT brake inspector qualification preferred/required based on assigned responsibilities. EPA Section 609 certification preferred for HVAC work. ASE certifications preferred. CDL preferred. Ability to independently use diagnostic equipment and service information.

Pay:

$27.00 - $31.00 per hour
