Full Job Description Description:
Fireman Excavating is seeking a mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel trucks and work equipment, including TMA trucks and sweepers. This position handles day-to-day maintenance, diagnoses breakdowns, and helps keep vehicles safe and ready for crews to use.
Requirements:
Responsibilities Diagnose and repair diesel engines, brakes, steering, suspension, and driveline components. Troubleshoot electrical systems, including wiring, batteries, alternators, lighting, and vehicle accessories. Diagnose and repair truck air-conditioning systems. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic systems, hoses, pumps, and related equipment. Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filters, fluids, belts, tires, and scheduled inspections. Identify safety issues, document repairs, and tell management when a vehicle should be taken out of service. Keep the shop, tools, parts, and maintenance records organized. Coordinate with outside repair shops when work cannot be completed in-house. Qualifications Hands-on experience repairing diesel trucks and diagnosing mechanical problems. Working knowledge of automotive electrical, A/C, and hydraulic systems. Ability to use diagnostic equipment, read wiring diagrams, and work independently. Strong attention to safety and a valid driver's license. Experience with medium-duty trucks, sweepers, or construction equipment is preferred.
