Competitive Pay Based on Experience + Benefits Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and dependable Mobile Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of tow trucks, wreckers, rollbacks, service trucks, and support equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic and repair skills, be able to work independently in the field, and take pride in keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and road-ready. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical systems. Perform preventive maintenance on light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty tow trucks. Respond to roadside breakdowns and perform mobile repairs in the field. Troubleshoot hydraulic, PTO, recovery, and towing equipment systems. Conduct inspections and identify safety concerns before equipment failure occurs. Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately. Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies. Ensure DOT compliance and fleet safety standards are met. Work closely with drivers, dispatchers, and management to minimize equipment downtime. Assist with welding and fabrication projects as needed. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of diesel mechanic experience preferred. Experience with towing, recovery, or commercial truck fleets is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and air brakes. Ability to read diagnostic software and repair manuals. Valid driver's license required. CDL preferred or willingness to obtain. ASE certifications are a plus. Ability to work independently and efficiently in a mobile service environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and work under vehicles and equipment.
