Duties & Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and advanced repairs on heavy trucks, construction equipment, diesel-powered equipment, and other fleet vehicles. Diagnose and repair engines, powertrains, drivetrains, steering, suspension, and brake systems. Mount, balance, and replace tires, and perform welding, metalwork, and minor fabrication as needed. Provide mobile and field maintenance support, including expeditionary and contingency repairs during periods of increased maintenance demand. Use FleetFocus to record labor, parts, and completed repairs, and operate Government vehicles when performing maintenance duties. Follow manufacturer and applicable Government maintenance standards to keep vehicles and equipment safe, reliable, and ready for use.

Requirements Required:

At least 6 years of hands-on experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic, with a background in an OEM dealership, commercial fleet shop, or military maintenance facility. Ability to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment, diesel engines, and related mechanical systems. ASE certification in diesel engines plus at least two heavy truck categories, such as brakes, drivetrain, suspension, electrical, HVAC, or preventive maintenance. Proficiency with AssetWorks FleetFocus or a similar maintenance management system, with clear verbal and written communication skills. . citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and installation access credentials. Must meet drug-free workforce requirements. Valid driver's license and ability to travel approximately 10% of the time. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical repairs in shop, motor pool, and field environments, including outdoor work and exposure to noise, fuels, lubricants, and exhaust.

Preferred:

Commercial Driver's License CDL for vehicles exceeding 26,000 lbs GVW. #FJ1

Compensation:

$32.00 - $34.75/hour based on experience
