HEAVY EQUIPMENT / DIESEL MECHANIC

Job Description

Munson, Inc. is looking for an experienced heavy equipment / diesel mechanic to take a lead role in our shop in Glendale, WI. This is a full-time, year-round position. You would be responsible for keeping a fleet of roughly 130 trucks, trailers, and pieces of construction equipment running for our paving, fencing, and tennis court divisions, with a full-time assistant mechanic working under you. Most of the work is in our indoor shop, with service calls to jobsites as needed.
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
Preventive maintenance and repairs on dump trucks, pickups, trailers, pavers, rollers, skid steers, excavators, loaders, and small equipment. Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems. Prioritizing the shop workload and directing the assistant mechanic. Ordering parts and keeping maintenance records. Welding and fabrication as needed. DOT inspections and keeping trucks and trailers road-ready. Keeping the shop and yard clean and organized.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic. Construction or trucking fleet experience preferred. Able to work independently, manage your own workload, and make the call on what gets fixed first. Competent welder. Comfortable with a forklift, loader, and other yard equipment. Able to lift and carry 50 lbs regularly. Basic computer skills for records and parts ordering. Valid Wisconsin driver's license with a clean record. CDL required.
WHAT WE OFFER
Union pay and benefits, including pension and healthcare. Year-round work. Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Overtime is available during the paving season, with a lighter schedule in winter. Shop tools provided. A family-owned company that has been in business since 1955. Candidates will be required to complete a medical screening, pre-employment drug test, and criminal background check before or after receipt of an offer. Pay:
From $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 55.0 per week
