Role:
Shift from physical labor to diagnostic expertise: you'll be the shop's technical lead for transmission diagnostics, setting the standard for workflow and quality in the back bay. This is a hands-on, brain-first role focused on accurately diagnosing complex transmission issues and delivering timely, reliable outcomes.What You'll Do :
- Diagnose 5-10 vehicles per day, using systematic inspection, road tests, and advanced scan/test tools to identify transmission faults and root causes.
- Execute targeted repairs when required, balancing speed with exacting standards to restore drivability and reliability.
- Set and maintain a high standard for workflow and documentation in the shop—create repeatable, efficient processes that reduce rework.
- Maintain accurate records of diagnostics, tests performed, and parts recommended to ensure traceability and quality control.
- Stay current with transmission systems, updates, and specialized repair methods across makes and models.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven mastery in transmission diagnosis and repair; demonstrable history of solving complex transmission problems across multiple makes (Ford, Chrysler, GM preferred).
- Confident, independent problem-solver who prefers focused, deep technical work and owns outcomes from start to finish.
- Methodical and disciplined: you build reliable processes, follow diagnostic steps precisely, and produce consistent results under pressure.
- High stamina and commitment: able to maintain throughput and quality across a steady daily volume of vehicles.
- Continuous learner attitude—open to new techniques, eager to refine skills, and receptive to technical training.
- Calm under time pressure and customer expectations; communicates findings clearly and professionally.
- ASE certification or equivalent technical credentials and shop experience preferred.
