Junior Traveling Retrofit Technician - Transit EV Buses $26-$28 per hour, based on experience | Full-Time Looking for a Junior Traveling Retrofit Technician to join our team and support retrofit, warranty, and field service work on transit buses, including electric and zero-emission buses. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanic, bus mechanic, or technician who enjoys hands-on work, troubleshooting, travel, and working with new transit technology. The technician will travel to different customer and job sites to complete retrofit installations, repairs, modifications, and warranty work. Current projects are in Boston, New York, and Miami, with travel to other states as needed. The ideal candidate is a technician who is mechanically inclined, pays close attention to detail, can work independently, and has strong communication skills. Electrical experience is a plus, and experience working safely around high-voltage systems and electric vehicles is highly valued. Responsibilities Travel to customer and job sites to perform retrofit and warranty work on transit buses. Install safety barriers and other bus components. Perform HVAC overhauls, repairs, and upgrades. Assist with propulsion and electric bus system updates. Adjust, repair, and troubleshoot bus doors and related components. Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues. Complete warranty repairs and address customer concerns. Inspect work to ensure proper fit, operation, quality, and safety. Follow work instructions, technical procedures, drawings, and safety requirements. Gather measurements, photos, troubleshooting information, and other field data. Clearly communicate findings and completed work to the Managers. Work professionally with customers, transit agencies, supervisors, and other technicians. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Qualifications Experience as a mechanic, bus mechanic, heavy-duty technician, automotive technician, fleet technician, or similar role. Strong mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems. Electrical experience is a plus. Experience working around high-voltage systems is preferred. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to read and follow technical instructions. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication and customer service skills. Comfortable using a computer, smartphone, email, and digital documentation. Willingness and ability to travel extensively to different job sites. Strong commitment to workplace and high-voltage safety.
