Field Service Controls Engineer

Job Description

Remote | 60-80% Travel TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with an innovative AI and machine vision company to hire a Field Applications Engineer . This role will lead the deployment, integration, and support of AI-powered vision systems within manufacturing environments, serving as the primary technical resource during customer implementations. Responsibilities Install, commission, and support AI-powered vision systems, cameras, lighting, and related hardware. Integrate systems with PLC platforms including Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, GE Automation, and similar controls platforms. Configure I/O, communications, networking, and system connectivity. Troubleshoot controls, electrical, networking, hardware, and integration issues in live production environments. Support system startup, production validation, and performance optimization. Train operators, maintenance teams, and engineers on system operation and troubleshooting. Develop installation documentation, configuration records, and support materials. Serve as the primary technical contact throughout deployment and production ramp-up activities. Provide feedback to engineering and product teams to support continuous improvement. Requirements Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. 3+ years of experience working with industrial PLC systems. Experience with Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, GE Automation, or similar controls platforms. Ability to configure I/O, troubleshoot PLC systems, and support controls communications. Working knowledge of ladder logic, structured text, and industrial automation fundamentals. Strong electrical and hardware troubleshooting skills using diagnostic equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes. Experience integrating automation equipment, controls, sensors, or manufacturing systems. Strong customer-facing communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to travel 60-80% throughout the United States, including deployments lasting 1-2 weeks at a time. Preferred Qualifications Experience with machine vision technologies including Cognex, Keyence, industrial cameras, and lighting systems. Familiarity with Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, and other industrial communication protocols. Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and automation integration projects. Background in manufacturing, plant engineering, controls engineering, or industrial maintenance. Experience with Allen Bradley CompactLogix, ControlLogix, Siemens S7-1200, or Siemens S7-1500. Preferred residence in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Ohio. TRC Talent Solutions is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE). Pay:
$130,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
