Job Description

The company is now launching a new industrial digital printing equipment division and are seeking a technically strong individual to become our primary Digital Printing Applications & Field Service Engineer.



This is not simply an equipment installation position.



The person selected will become the company's internal digital printing expert and will play a major role in building the technical foundation of this new division.



The OpportunityThey are introducing several new industrial digital printing technologies, including:


Rotary UV digital printing systemsHigh-throw UV flatbed digital printing systemsHigh-speed single-pass UV digital printing systemsThe person hired will receive extensive hands-on factory training and will become responsible for supporting these technologies throughout North America.



Initial training is expected to include approximately two weeks of factory training in China covering our rotary and high-throw digital printing platforms.



Additional international training may be required as new technologies are introduced.



Company will cover approved business travel expenses associated with required factory training.



What You Will Do Digital Printing ApplicationsA major part of this position involves determining whether customer products can be successfully digitally printed.

Responsibilities:

Print customer samples submitted to company for evaluation.



Determine appropriate machine settings for different products and applications.



Evaluate print quality, adhesion, coverage, curing, and production feasibility.



Develop print settings and processes for new applications.



Work with pretreatment, primers, white ink, varnish, and other digital printing variables.



Help determine which of company's digital printing platform is appropriate for a customer's application.



Document successful applications so they can be repeated during demonstrations and installations.



Equipment Installation & CommissioningYou will travel to customer facilities to:


Install industrial digital printing equipment.



Perform machine setup and commissioning.



Level, calibrate, test, and configure equipment.



Verify proper machine operation.



Perform print testing before customer acceptance.



Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, software, ink-delivery, curing, and print-quality issues.



Complete installation documentation.



Customer TrainingFollowing installation, you will train customer personnel on:


Equipment operationStartup and shutdown proceduresPrint preparationPrint settingsRoutine maintenancePrinthead maintenanceInk-system maintenanceTroubleshootingUV curingPretreatment and adhesionProper cleaning proceduresYou should be comfortable explaining technical concepts clearly to operators, engineers, maintenance personnel, and management.



Field Service & Technical SupportYou will provide both on-site and remote technical support.



Responsibilities may include:


Diagnosing equipment problems.



Remote troubleshooting by phone or video.



On-site equipment repair.



Mechanical adjustments.



Electrical troubleshooting.



Software troubleshooting.



Printhead troubleshooting.



Ink-delivery system troubleshooting.



Preventative maintenance.



Replacement of machine components.



Working directly with overseas equipment manufacturers on advanced technical issues.



Candidates must be willing and able to travel internationally.



A valid passport or the ability to obtain one is required.



Preferred BackgroundExperience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, RIP software, or digital prepress is a plus.



Experience with Toshiba, Ricoh, Epson, Kyocera, or similar industrial inkjet technology is also a plus.

TravelThis position requires regular travel.

International travel will be required.



Physical RequirementsCandidates should be comfortable:


Working around industrial machinery.



Standing for extended periods.



Using hand and power tools.



Working inside and around machinery.



Bending, reaching, and performing mechanical adjustments.



Lifting approximately 50 pounds when required.
