This field role requires an individual who can manage their own time efficiently with minimal supervision, working independently in the field on a regular basis. Daily responsibilities include tracking and writing up work assignments, coordinating repair scheduling with the Office Manager, performing field repairs, processing required documentation electronically, and communicating directly with customers about machine status and service updates.
Responsibilities:
Perform and diagnose repairs on customer equipment at customer locations. Complete required field reports, track travel time, and document time on jobs electronically. Prepare field service jobs by loading required materials and parts prior to departure. Keep logbooks current when operating a commercial vehicle. Perform a pre-trip vehicle inspection daily before driving. Interface with customers on-site, provide a copy of the field report, advise the customer of job status before leaving, and provide timely follow-up as necessary. Advise the Office Manager and customer of any issues or complications encountered in the field. Inspect customer equipment to identify whether additional work is required. Complete repairs with efficiency and accuracy as outlined on the service order. Save and tag parts per factory warranty guidelines on warranty repairs. Create parts lists for required repairs and quote repairs to the customer. Visit customers independently or alongside Sales Representatives to generate service opportunities. Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and drawings. Notify the Office Manager and customer when additional work is needed or items on the service order are not required. Notify the Office Manager and customer when repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe. Perform work on rental and demo equipment in the field as required. Keep the service vehicle, customer locations, shop, and warehouse clean and organized; ensure all equipment is in proper operating condition and properly serviced. Maintain accurate vehicle parts inventory. Maintain a parts inventory at a personal home base or local facility as needed. Stay current with online factory training, tech tips, and service bulletins. Follow all company safety policies and procedures; report any safety issues or accidents to the Office Manager and Branch Manager. Engage customer relationships to grow service opportunities. Manage paperwork and electronic processing, submitting to the office for warranties and customer pay invoices.
Qualifications:
2 to 3 years of experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, or heavy equipment experience. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment systems. Ability to identify component failures, worn or damaged parts, and perform quality repairs. Ability to communicate clearly with customers and answer customer questions. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and follow through to completion. Ability to maintain a professional appearance and represent the company professionally. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, stoop, squat, and sit for extended periods as repairs requires. Basic computer skills. High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred :
4 to 6 years of experience working on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, or heavy equipment experience. Prior experience working on Haaker product lines. College or vocational coursework completion.
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience. Range dependent on years of relevant experience, qualifications, and skills. Haaker Equipment Company is an equal opportunity employer.
