Field Service Technician II Location:

Must be located within a 75 mile radius of Chicago, IL (Tinley Park)

Duration:

6+ month contract-to-hire Role Overview This role supports fixed gas and flame detection product lines by performing installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, and repair work at customer sites. The technician will work independently, manage customer relationships, schedule and quote service work, and complete all necessary documentation for billing and compliance. The technician will primarily be responsible for the Midwest territory and will travel to job sites within their assigned region. Key Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and commission gas and flame detection systems. Travel throughout the Midwest to support customers at various industrial sites, including manufacturing plants, hospitals, wastewater facilities, and refineries. Perform calibrations and create detailed service reports. Communicate directly with customers to manage service jobs from initiation to completion. Prepare quotes for work, schedule jobs, and complete related administrative tasks. Maintain an inventory of tools, parts, and company-provided equipment. Work independently from a home office when not performing fieldwork. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3+ years mechanical, electrical or electronic experience. Minimum 1+ year field experience as a service technician. Demonstrated background in low-voltage electrical systems (24V DC). Experience in a field service or industrial maintenance capacity. Willingness and ability to travel extensively as required by customer needs. Proven ability to work independently and in customer-facing situations. Developed troubleshooting and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in military electrical, automation, or controls fields is beneficial. Background with HVAC/R, Honeywell, Emerson, or Johnson Controls systems is considered a strong asset. Associate degree in electronics or a related technical field OR equivalent military training.
