This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who already understands water mitigation and can take ownership of a job from the initial emergency response through completion. You should be comfortable walking into a water loss, assessing the damage, developing a mitigation plan, directing technicians, setting equipment, documenting the job, communicating with the customer, and keeping the project moving without constant supervision. What You'll Be Responsible For As a Senior Water Mitigation Technician / Crew Chief, you will: Lead residential and commercial water mitigation projects Perform initial inspections and assess the extent of water damage Identify affected materials and determine appropriate mitigation procedures Establish drying goals and drying plans Perform water extraction Take and document moisture readings Set up air movers, dehumidifiers, HEPA filtration, and specialty drying equipment Monitor and adjust drying equipment throughout the project Determine when materials can be dried and when removal is necessary Perform and supervise controlled demolition Direct technicians and assign daily job-site tasks Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites Take complete job-site photographs Maintain accurate moisture documentation and daily job notes Document equipment placement and usage Communicate clearly with customers throughout the mitigation process Identify changes in scope and communicate them to management Coordinate with project managers, adjusters, plumbers, subcontractors, and other parties when needed Perform final moisture inspections before equipment removal Ensure equipment is cleaned, accounted for, and returned properly Assist with larger commercial and emergency losses Help train and develop newer technicians Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools We Need Someone Who Can Run the Job A senior technician should not need someone standing over their shoulder. You should be able to arrive at a loss, determine what needs to happen, organize your crew, and get the job moving.

That means understanding:

Water categories and classes Moisture mapping Psychrometrics Structural drying Extraction procedures Equipment calculations and placement Drying chambers and containment Controlled demolition HEPA filtration Proper documentation Cross-contamination prevention Customer communication Job-site safety IICRC water mitigation principles You do not need to know everything. You do need enough experience to recognize problems, make sound decisions, and know when something needs to be escalated. Leadership Matters Being a Crew Chief is more than knowing how to set a dehumidifier. You will be responsible for the people working with you and the quality of the job. We expect our Crew Chiefs to: Lead by example Keep technicians productive Teach newer employees Check the quality of their crew's work Make sure documentation is completed correctly Keep jobs organized Communicate problems before they become bigger problems Treat customers professionally Take responsibility for the job instead of passing problems to someone else We are looking for someone who can lead a crew without acting like an jerk. You should be able to hold people accountable, work alongside your team, and keep the job moving. Experience We're Looking For Applicants should have previous professional water mitigation or restoration experience. Strong candidates will have experience with: Residential water losses Commercial water losses Extraction equipment Air movers and dehumidifiers Moisture meters Controlled demolition Structural drying Job documentation Customer communication Leading technicians or small crews Experience with MICA, Xactimate, Encircle, DocuSketch, or similar restoration software is a plus. Certifications

IICRC WRT

certification is strongly preferred. Additional certifications such as the following are a plus:

training Lead-safe certification Other restoration industry certifications If you have strong real-world experience but are missing a certification, we still want to hear from you. What This Job Is Really Like Restoration is emergency work. Water losses do not schedule appointments. Some days will be straightforward residential losses. Other days may involve major commercial losses, flooded basements, sewage losses, storm damage, or projects that require long hours.

This position may include:

Occasional evenings Occasional weekends Emergency response Overtime Working in wet or damaged buildings Basements, crawlspaces, and attics Hot or cold environments Sewage or contaminated water losses with appropriate PPE Physical demolition and equipment handling If you want a strictly 8:00 to 5:00 job where nothing unexpected ever happens, restoration probably is not the right industry. Physical Requirements You must be able to: Regularly lift and carry restoration equipment Move air movers and dehumidifiers Move furniture and contents Bend, kneel, crawl, climb, and reach Work on ladders Work in basements, crawlspaces, and attics Safely operate hand and power tools Wear respirators and other required PPE Perform physical work throughout the day Essential job functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
