This position performs repairs and reconstruction of sewer lines and other general field and maintenance activities.
Job Description:
Monitor and record readings to ensure sewer plant and lift stations are functioning properly. Perform repairs, maintain and clean sewer lines including concrete removal, repair and replacement, cementitious lining. Perform general landscaping duties including concrete restoration and grading to restore construction areas. Operate and maintain heavy equipment including land application tractors and dump trucks, flush trucks and easement machines. Perform general field work including responding to sewer back-ups and complaints. Perform electrical and other maintenance activities according to the maintenance schedule. Respond to emergency calls regarding sewer back-ups, lift station problems and plant problems. Operate the belt press in preparing bio-solids for land application. Video and visually inspect sewer lines and manholes to determine the possibility of storm water infiltration and reduce customer complaints and overflow. Communicate with land owners and foster positive public relations with customers and farmers. Communicate with supervisors and co-workers. Assist various water companies in service disconnection activities. Perform general maintenance and repair of District property as assigned. Clean and organize the garage/workshop area and ensure that all tools are in proper order. Assist construction crews and other utility companies to locate District lines. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and
ABILITIES
which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position: Working knowledge of the operation, servicing and preventative maintenance of engine-driven and gas detection meter equipment. Working knowledge of tools, materials, methods and practices required to clean, maintain and repair sewer lines and related systems including metal fabrication and welding. Working knowledge of grounds maintenance, manhole rehabilitation and general construction methods. Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, other employees and the general public. Ability to apply common sense to solve occasional problems. Ability to operate alone and follow standard procedures. Ability to do physical labor including digging, lifting, pulling and hauling dirt and equipment. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS and
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered: High school diploma or equivalent required. Requires a Missouri Class A commercial driver's license with combination vehicles endorsement and tank vehicles endorsement or ability to acquire during probationary period. Requires a minimum of 2-5 years' experience in construction, vehicle maintenance and the operation of heavy equipment.
