Full Job Description Miller's Rental and Sales Position:
Wheelchair Technician Location:
Canton, Ohio Summary As a Wheelchair Technician at Miller's Rental and Sales, you will play a pivotal role in restoring mobility and independence for clients with complex medical needs. This position combines mechanical expertise, compassionate service, and field-based problem-solving to support individuals relying on Complex Rehab Technology (CRT). You will perform diagnostics, repairs, and custom fittings for a wide range of wheelchairs and other mobility equipment, both in-shop and in clients' homes. This position requires a self-motivated individual who can work independently, as most of the role involves traveling in a Miller's Van to clients' homes and facilities for deliveries and repairs. At the same time, collaboration is key—you'll coordinate closely with our office customer service team and occasionally partner with fellow technicians for idea sharing and two-person complex jobs. Core Responsibilities
    Client Interface:
    Serve as a front-line representative of Miller's, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and technical expertise while interacting with clients, families, therapists, physicians, and care teams.
      Diagnosis and Repair:
      Independently diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues across CRT devices including power/manual wheelchairs, scooters, gait trainers, bath chairs, and standers.
        Parts and Installation:
        Accurately identify and install replacement parts, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
          Service and Documentation:
          Complete detailed work orders, coordinate with manufacturers for parts and quotes, and maintain accurate service records.
            Deliveries and Instruction:
            Deliver and set up new equipment, providing clear instruction on safe usage and routine maintenance to clients and caregivers.
              Equipment Adjustment:
              Collaborate with other Miller's staff members and clients' therapists to adjust and customize equipment for optimal fit and function.
                On-Road Service:
                Manage daily service routes efficiently, performing in-home diagnostics and repairs with professionalism and care.
                  Shop Maintenance:
                  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including upkeep of company vehicle and tools. Required Skills and Qualifications
                    Education:
                    High school diploma or GED equivalent.
                      Experience:
                      Minimum two years in mechanical/electronic repair. Prior experience with CRT or durable medical equipment is preferred, though not required.
                        Technical Aptitude:
                        Proficiency with hand/power tools and strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
                          Customer Service:
                          Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
                            Problem-Solving:
                            Ability to assess situations and make sound decisions independently.
                              Organizational Skills:
                              Detail-oriented with strong time management and documentation abilities.
                                Driving:
                                Valid Ohio Driver's License and clean driving record. Working Environment
