Job Description

Do you enjoy figuring out how things work, solving technical problems, and working directly with customers? Do you like the variety of working both from a technical service location and out in the field? RR Mechatronics is looking for a Field Service Technician to join our U.S. team in Warwick, Rhode Island. You will work with specialized medical and laboratory instruments used by hospitals and laboratories and help keep these systems running reliably. This is a hands-on technical role combining work at our Warwick office with field service at customer locations. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair our instruments, while also supporting and training the people who use them. You won't be expected to know our equipment on day one. We will train you on our instruments and technology at our Warwick office. What we are looking for is a technically skilled, hands-on problem solver who enjoys working independently, working with colleagues and providing excellent customer service. What will you do? As a Field Service Technician, you will be one of the main technical contacts for our customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
Troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing RR Mechatronics instruments at our Warwick office and customer locations Installing new instruments and supporting customers during commissioning Diagnosing technical issues together with laboratory technicians, biomedical engineers and third-party service technicians Providing technical and user support by phone and in the field Training customers in the correct use and routine maintenance of our instruments Completing and maintaining service reports and service records Managing service parts and inventory at our office and customer locations Identifying recurring technical issues and sharing field experience with our team to help improve our products and service Recognizing potential sales opportunities during customer contact and sharing these with our sales team Supporting emergency service visits when required This is a hands-on technical role This is an electromechanical service position, not an IT support role . We are looking for someone who enjoys working on physical equipment, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, replacing or adjusting components and getting instruments back up and running. Our instruments also incorporate software and network connectivity, so a basic understanding of application software and TCP/IP networking is useful. However, the core of this position is hands-on electromechanical service and troubleshooting. What are we looking for? An Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or comparable technical background, in mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related technical field Hands-on electromechanical experience Experience in a technical service or similar position Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills A practical, solution-oriented approach The ability to work independently and make effective use of the resources available to you Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations when required Travel Although this position is based at our Warwick office, travel is an important part of the role. You will visit customer locations for installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and training. This means that you should be comfortable traveling as part of your job and occasionally staying overnight when required. What we offer Base salary of $55,000 to $65,000 per year Health insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off Comprehensive training on RR Mechatronics instruments and technology A varied technical position combining hands-on work, problem-solving and customer contact The opportunity to work with specialized medical and laboratory technology A high degree of independence while working as part of a small U.S. team About RR Mechatronics RR Mechatronics develops, manufactures and supports specialized medical and laboratory instruments. Our headquarter is located in the Netherlands, where we currently employ approximately 47 people. The second interview will be with members of our U.S. team in Warwick, Rhode Island. This gives us the opportunity to get to know you from both an organizational and technical perspective, while giving you the opportunity to learn more about RR Mechatronics, the role and the team you will be working with. Interested? If you enjoy combining hands-on technology, problem-solving, travel and customer contact, and would like to become part of our small U.S. team, we would like to hear from you.
