Job Summary:
The Senior Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction equipment and related systems. A successful Senior Heavy Equipment Technician will possess advanced hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel troubleshooting skills and be capable of working independently in both shop and field environments. This Senior Heavy Equipment Technician position is ideal for a professional who enjoys solving complex equipment issues, mentoring junior technicians, and supporting customers throughout the equipment lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, fuel, and control systems. Conduct preventive maintenance services including fluid changes, lubrications, inspections, and minor diesel engine repairs. Diagnose and repair complex equipment issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and technical documentation. Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and repair documentation. Travel to customer job sites as needed to perform equipment repairs, maintenance, commissioning, and operator training. Serve as a mentor and technical resource for apprentices and junior technicians. Assist customers with equipment operation, maintenance best practices, and troubleshooting guidance. Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company policies and industry standards. Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a high-performing service team.
Minimum Qualifications:
7+ years of heavy equipment repair experience, across the construction, drilling, foundation, crane, mining, or rental fleet equipment industries. Strong electrical diagnostics experience including reading schematics and troubleshooting electrical systems. Strong hydraulic troubleshooting and repair experience. Experience with diesel engines and preventative maintenance. Familiarity with CAN bus and PLC troubleshooting knowledge. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills US Citizen / Permanent Resident with valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous mentoring, training, or leadership experience. Experience working independently in both shop and field service environments. Experience supporting pile driving, drilling, foundation, or shoring equipment. #CDIV101
Pay:
$45.00 - $55.00 per hour
