Job Description
Hills Flat Lumber Co. is hiring an Outdoor Power & Rental Equipment Mechanic to service, repair, and maintain outdoor power tools, small-engine equipment, and rental equipment for our customers. This is a great opportunity for a dependable mechanic who enjoys hands-on work, troubleshooting equipment issues, and helping customers get the tools they need in safe, reliable working condition.

In person Responsibilities- Diagnose, repair, service, and maintain outdoor power equipment, small engines, and rental equipment.
- Work on equipment such as chainsaws, lawn mowers, trimmers, generators, pressure washers, compactors, pumps, and other rental tools and equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance, tune-ups, oil changes, blade sharpening, cleaning, lubrication, inspections, and equipment preparation.
- Inspect rental equipment before and after use to confirm safe operation and identify damage, wear, or needed repairs.
- Identify parts needed for repairs and maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, labor time, and equipment condition.
- Communicate professionally with customers and team members about equipment issues, repair status, and safe operation.
- Keep the shop and service area clean, organized, and safe. Requirements
- Previous experience repairing small engines, outdoor power equipment, rental equipment, or similar mechanical equipment is required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment.
- Knowledge of gasoline engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, carburetors, belts, blades, and common equipment components.
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift, move, and handle equipment and parts as needed.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must be insurable under company driving requirements.
- Must be willing and able to drive between two store locations as needed.
