We are a full service, one-stop-shop Material Handling Solutions Company providing new, used, rental, parts, service and training on forklifts and other Material Handling equipment. We also provide systems, racking and shelving, docks and doors, warehouse floor cleaning and port terminal equipment.
We are seeking experienced Forklift Field Mechanics / technicians to join our Service Department team! This position requires knowledge of general material handling equipment. The Forklift Mechanics / Technicians must be capable of trouble shooting and providing repairs on an as-needed basis. It is essential for the Forklift Field Mechanics / Technicians to possess good knowledge of parts and the ability to determine if a part needs to be replaced or repaired. In addition, the Forklift Mechanics / Technicians must be able to write clear job recommendations and descriptions as well as ensure all paperwork is completed and given to department Supervisor in a timely manner.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to communicate with customers both in-house and in the field Ability to determine whether work should be done in-field or in-house Repair gasoline, LPG, electric or diesel-powered forklifts. Make repairs as needed including replacing worn or broken parts, adjusting brakes, tightening body bolts, aligning wheels, etc… Lubricate vehicle and perform other duties in connection with maintenance and operation of lift truck, as required. Perform manual labor, as needed, such as heavy lifting and operating power equipment. Inform Supervisor of maintenance problems as they arise. Complete paperwork, as needed, to open and/or close work orders. Attend technical classes/training when offered by Management. Practice safe work habits. Keep van clean. Report any vehicle problems to your supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Required Skills and Abilities:
High school graduate Minimum 3 years of Forklift Mechanic / Technician experience Valid Driver's license with Excellent driving record (as shown on current DMV report) Will be expected to drive (company van/gas provided) to TMHS customer sites. Sites vary over the general Los Angeles area Ability to read and follow Thomas Guide / GPS directions Own your own tools and tool box Must be able to write and spell English clearly and correctly Customer service attitude and aptitude Good attendance and punctuality a must Must be reliable, report to work on time, follow directions and get along well with coworkers and management personnel Expected to attend technical classes when offered by management Appearance must be neat and professional
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED), required. Three (3) + years of Forklift mechanic / forklift experience, required. Previous equipment, material handling, or automotive experience, preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward. Must be able to physically operate power machinery, use hand tools, use air compressor tools, band saw and department grinder, steam cleaner, and parts washer machines, Must be able to physically lift 50 pounds unaided Must be able to physically listen, speak and interact with other Company associates, vendors, and customers regarding Service department needs. Must be physically able to operate / drive a company van or Hino Must be physically and mentally able to read, write and follow directions
