Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, this position efficiently maintains and repairs all District machinery, equipment, and vehicles. This role helps ensure the district assets remain safe, reliable, and in optimal operating condition. Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and perform hands-on maintenance and repair work when necessary. Maintain an inventory of necessary parts, tools, and equipment. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities. Generate reports on equipment performance, maintenance schedules, and costs. Order and procure replacement parts and materials as needed. Monitor and control expenses related to parts and supplies. Ensure that maintenance and repairs are completed efficiently and to high-quality standards. Performs other related work as required

Qualification Requirements:

Strong mechanical aptitude and expertise in diagnosing and repairing equipment Extensive knowledge of light machinery operation and capabilities Operating hand tools and power tools Basic knowledge of maintenance equipment Excellent mechanical skills Correct application and use of the English language, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Education/Certification/License:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred Post-secondary education or certification in a related field preferred Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License, have a satisfactory driving record, and insurable by the District to operate District vehicles.

Experience:

Minimum of two (5) years of progressively responsible experience as a working mechanic; equipment experience is preferred.

Work Hours:

Typical working hours for this position are Monday-Friday, from 6:00am to 2:30pm. This schedule is subject to change as required to meet the needs of the District. Must be willing to work overtime and/or alternate schedules as required. This position is disaster essential and may be required to report to work immediately following a natural disaster (such as a hurricane).

From $19.00 per hour
