This is a mobile field service position responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction equipment at our jobsites and other locations throughout the area. While the primary focus is heavy equipment, diesel truck experience is a strong plus due to the variety of vehicles and equipment in our fleet. The right candidate will be a dependable, experienced technician who is comfortable working independently in the field, troubleshooting problems, and getting equipment back up and running safely and efficiently. Depending on experience, qualifications, and location, the assigned service truck may be eligible to be taken home. What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Full-time, consistent work Company-provided mobile service truck Potential to take the service truck home depending on the applicant and location Competitive benefits package Opportunity for long-term growth Variety of equipment, diagnostics, and repair work Safety-focused work environment Responsibilities Travel to jobsites to diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled services in the field Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components Diagnose hydraulic leaks and repair hoses, cylinders, pumps, fittings, and related components Diagnose electrical, wiring, starting, charging, and other equipment issues Respond to equipment breakdowns and determine the appropriate repair Perform repairs efficiently to minimize equipment downtime Inspect equipment and identify potential problems before they result in breakdowns Assist with diesel truck and fleet repairs as needed Maintain accurate service and repair records Maintain and organize the assigned service truck, tools, and parts Communicate with supervisors and jobsite personnel regarding equipment status and repairs Follow all company safety procedures and equipment maintenance standards Equipment You May Work On Our fleet includes a variety of construction equipment and vehicles, including: Excavators Wheel loaders Skid steers and compact track loaders Dozers Rollers and compaction equipment Dump trucks Diesel trucks Service and support vehicles Trailers Other construction and jobsite equipment Qualifications Previous heavy equipment mechanic experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment repair Experience diagnosing hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical problems Ability to perform preventative maintenance and both minor and major repairs Comfortable performing repairs independently in a field/mobile environment Ability to read wiring diagrams, service information, and diagnostic procedures Ability to safely operate equipment for testing and diagnostic purposes Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Dependable and able to manage service calls and repairs independently Diesel truck repair experience is a strong plus Welding and fabrication experience is a plus CDL is a plus, but not required Must have basic hand tools appropriate for the position What We're Looking For We're looking for more than someone who can perform oil changes and basic services.
