At the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), we plan, build, maintain, and protect the transportation systems that connect communities, support commerce, and keep Louisiana moving. The overall function of this position is performing a full range of repairs on a variety of makes and models of heavy and light construction equipment, passenger vehicles, medium duty trucks, and small engine equipment in District 08. The employee is responsible for inspecting equipment, diagnosing mechanical problems, and determine best course of repair in the District. This is a hands-on field role that requires attention to detail, safety awareness, and strong documentation skills. Position is located in Rapides, District 08/Unit 071 and report to Mechanic Supervisor A . One year of experience or training as a mechanic. Job Duties Depending on assignment, Mechanic may: Performs entry level repair/maintenance and inspection related activities on vehicles and heavy construction equipment. Assists higher level mechanics in working on a variety of mobile equipment and vehicles. May also be responsible for repair and maintenance of equipment powered by small internal combustion engines such as lawnmowers, string trimmers, outboard motors, etc. Tasks may include spark plug replacement, carburetor cleaning, starter repair, and filter replacement. Removes and cleans fuel tanks. May maintain inventory of tools, instruments, and supplies.Position-Specific Details:

Mechanic 1- $ 35,734.00 Annual Mechanic 2
- $ 40,914.00 Annual Mechanic 3
- $ 43,784.
