AREA I - All permanent and indefinite Enlisted Technicians in the Maine Air Nional Guard. AREA II - All Enlisted of the Maine Air Nional Guard. Duties Help This position is loced in the Air Nional Guard (ANG) Ste Headquarters (HQ), Engineering Installion Squadron (EIS), Vehicle Maintenance Section whose mission is to engineer, install, remove, and/or perform maintenance on Command and Control, Communicions, Computer and Informion (C4I) systems and facilities. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain, repair, modify and inspect heavy mobility equipment as well as various types of motor vehicles and powered support equipment, both gasoline and diesel powered. b.DUTIES AND RESPONISIBLES
(1) Performs required repair of gasoline and diesel powered vehicles and equipment as assigned, using independent judgment and own initiive on the repair work. Performs Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTOs) including scheduled, unscheduled and special inspections. Determines when and how far major components should be dismantled; wh parts and mechanisms can be reworked, refitted, or replaced with new parts and the type, extent and alignment required, using technical orders, commercial manuals, automotive computer da base system, or local directives. Removes, rebuilds, repairs, and replaces vehicle system components. Adjusts and/or overhauls engine mechanical systems, ste of the art fiber optic systems, electrical, air conditioning, fuel-air, emission control, power trains, gear reduction systems, electronic/pneumic controlled automic and manual transmissions, power take-offs, differentials, power dividers and computerized brakes, steering and suspension system components. Performs operional driving tests to determine serviceability of equipment. (2) Performs body repair and corrosion control, repaints, and refinishes surfaces as required. Repairs and/or replaces body parts, locks, glass, etc., and determines if additional repairs are required. Fabrices vehicle body panels as required for repairs. Uses welding equipment, power tools, hand tools and other specialized equipment. Cleans, replaces, tests and repairs radiors/oil coolers and associed parts. Incumbent replaces or repairs tires and/or tubes and balances wheels. (3) Diagnoses malfunctions by visual or auditory examinion methods. Uses complex test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, computerized diagnostic scan tools and pressure gauges to determine exact nure or extent of repairs or adjustments necessary. Isoles malfunction by using systemic vehicle analysis. Troubleshoots, inspects, tests, analyzes and adjusts vehicle computer/electrical control systems, mechanical and hydraulic systems, lubricing, cooling, air conditioning, emission and exhaust systems, ste of the art fiber optic systems, engine electrical systems, engine fuel-air systems, electronic/pneumic controlled automic and manual transmission, power take-offs, differentials, power dividers, power trains, computerized brakes, steering and suspension systems. (4) Prepares, maintains and submits maintenance work orders for man-hour and da collection accounting. Records work performed or delayed and parts or maintenance required. (5) Reviews and maintains technical orders, opering instructions, commercial publicions, Major Command (MAJCOM) and local publicions, automotive da base updes, as well as other pertinent directives. (6) Establishes and maintains adeque bench and special stock support levels and approprie tools and equipment. Uses and maintains shop equipment. Researches or assists in requisitioning merials, parts and equipment necessary to perform the vehicle maintenance management mission. (7) Participes as On-the-Job Training (OJT) instructor in the vehicle maintenance area. Conducts instructional classes on methods and procedures of operion and maintenance concerning all aspects of vehicles and assigned shop maintenance support equipment. Evalues effectiveness of instruction, maintains individual and section training and qualificion records. (8) Conducts the local occupional safety and health training program, to include compliance with directives and procedures for proper disposal of hazardous/contamined waste products. (9) Operes general and special purpose vehicles, base maintenance, merials handling equipment, and Aeronautical Ground Equipment (AGE), as required to support the unit mission. (10) Plans and schedules tasks and training activities for drill stus guard members. Trains assigned drill stus guardsmen on the maintenance, repair, and modificion of various types of motor vehicles and powered support equipment, both gasoline and diesel. Conducts unit wide training in environmental issues including Hazardous Communicion (HAZCOM), Hazardous Merial (HAZMAT) and other environmental reled areas. (11) Carries out various duties in support of mobilizion readiness of section assigned personnel and equipment. (12) Performs other duties as assigned.
