Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of construction, industrial, and agricultural machinery to ensure optimal operational performance. The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. This position offers an opportunity to work with diverse heavy equipment, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery, supporting our mission to maintain reliable and efficient operations across various industries. Duties Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractors using schematics and electrical diagnostics tools. Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspension components, and electrical systems to restore equipment functionality. Execute routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, alignment adjustments, and HVAC system servicing. Fabricate parts and components as needed using welding and hand tools to meet OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications. Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues through detailed equipment troubleshooting procedures and electrical/electronic diagnostics. Maintain accurate service records by documenting repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed in compliance with safety standards. Assist in the assembly of new equipment and perform heavy lifting during installation or repair projects. Support construction machinery servicing by ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently for ongoing projects. Conduct heavy equipment operation when required to test repaired machinery or assist in field service activities. Adhere to safety protocols during all maintenance activities to promote a safe working environment for self and team members. Skills Proven experience working as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with dealership experience preferred. Extensive knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and farm machinery. Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, electrical diagnostics, and HVAC systems. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting electrical systems and mechanical components. Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering using power tools and hand tools. Ability to perform automotive diagnostics alongside heavy equipment repairs for comprehensive service capabilities. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on equipment troubleshooting and repair efficiency. Familiarity with OEM parts standards and the ability to identify suitable replacements quickly. Experience operating heavy equipment safely in various environments to validate repairs or assist in field operations. Strong customer service orientation with effective communication skills for liaising with clients or team members regarding repairs or maintenance issues. This position is integral to maintaining the operational integrity of our fleet of heavy machinery. $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
