Job Description

Wellons Construction is currently seeking full-time Heavy Construction Equipment Mechanics to join our team. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced mechanic who can diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of heavy equipment, ensuring the entire machine is in excellent working order. In this role, you will be responsible for servicing and repairing our diverse fleet of both gas, diesel, and heavy equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, graders, rollers, loaders, and skid loaders. This position requires someone who is comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, as well as on various job sites. Effective communication and collaboration with other mechanics, supervisors, equipment operators, the dispatch office, and job site foremen are essential.
Responsibilities for this role include:
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues using diagnostic tools, techniques, and common sense.
  • Performing repairs on gas or diesel engines, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Reading and interpreting schematics to understand equipment layouts and functions.
  • Conducting hydraulic repairs.
  • Maintaining records of repairs and services performed on equipment.
  • Collaborating with team members to improve repair processes and efficiency.
Ideal candidates will possess:
  • A valid North Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • A strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Two years experience in gas or diesel engine repair (highly desirable).
  • A solid background in equipment diagnostics to accurately identify issues.
  • Strong mechanical skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ownership of your own tools.
