This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and operational readiness of the City's equipment and vehicles through regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs. The ideal candidate will be technically skilled, safety-conscious, and a team player committed to public service and workplace professionalism. What You'll Do Perform preventative maintenance inspections to ensure vehicles/equipment are safe and in working order. Fully diagnose equipment/vehicle problems, and perform high-quality, timely repairs on a variety of mechanical systems. Utilize fleet management system to manage work orders, parts requests, and repair notes. Respond to emergency situations, disasters, or inclement weather as needed. Foster effective working relationships with coworkers, officials, and the public. Fill in Lead Mechanic duties as needed.
Hours:
Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Hours subject to change during emergencies. Must be available to work odd/extra shifts for Ice/Snow and natural disaster events. This is a Safety Sensitive Position and is subject to Mandatory Drug Testing policies as a condition of employment.
Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills/Desirable Training & Experience Desired:
Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) certification. Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements High school graduate or equivalent and at least 2 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty equipment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Valid driver's license. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is required or the ability to obtain within 90 days of appointment.
