Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting our operational goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm equipment, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills to keep our fleet in top condition. Responsibilities Perform detailed inspections and diagnostics on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery using schematics and OEM manuals. Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brake systems, suspension components, and electrical systems to ensure optimal performance. Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding, soldering, and power tools to meet specific operational needs. Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all repairs performed; interpret technical schematics for troubleshooting complex issues. Assist with equipment assembly, installation, and calibration to ensure proper operation and safety compliance. Conduct preventive maintenance routines including tire service, brake repair, alignment checks, HVAC servicing, and general vehicle maintenance. Support heavy equipment operation when necessary for testing repairs or during routine tasks requiring skilled mechanical oversight. Qualifications Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment or industrial machinery; dealership experience is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of Caterpillar (CAT) equipment and OEM standards; familiarity with schematics and technical manuals. Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; experience with power tools and hand tools essential. Proficiency in automotive diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting; ability to read complex schematics accurately. Experience working with farm machinery, excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, or similar equipment preferred. Knowledge of diesel engine repair, hydraulic systems, transmissions, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC systems and tire service. Ability to lift heavy objects safely; excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service orientation. Valid certifications in vehicle maintenance or heavy equipment operation are a plus; relevant licenses such as CDL or forklift certification are advantageous.
