POSITION SUMMARY
The Thermal Returned Equipment Processor is responsible for receiving, inspecting, processing, and dispositioning returned thermal equipment and HVAC-associated components. This role plays a critical part in Vertiv's product lifecycle and quality processes by accurately tracking returned materials, supporting vendor warranty claims, and ensuring proper storage and handling of returned goods until disposition is determined. The Processor works collaboratively with quality, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure returned equipment is managed efficiently and in full compliance with all safety and environmental standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive, inspect, log, and process returned thermal equipment including scroll compressors, semi-hermetic compressors, condensate pumps, humidifiers, reheats, and other HVAC-associated products Drain oil from returned compressors in strict compliance with Vertiv safety and environmental procedures and applicable regulations Identify equipment that falls within the vendor warranty period and initiate Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) requests to the appropriate vendors Track and manage open RMAs through resolution, communicating status updates to internal stakeholders as required Stock and organize returned materials in designated storage areas until a disposition decision is made by quality, engineering, or supply chain teams Operate Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs) including sit-down and stand-up forklifts to move and store returned equipment safely (PIV certification required) Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the company ERP system for all received, stored, and dispositioning returned items Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain departments on equipment disposition decisions (repair, scrap, return to vendor, or restock) Ensure all handling, storage, and disposal activities meet Vertiv EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) requirements and applicable regulatory standards Participate in cycle count activities and support inventory accuracy for the returned materials storage area Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area consistent with Vertiv 5S standards
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent Experience handling HVAC or thermal equipment components Ability to obtain PIV (forklift) certification Able to lift up to 50 lbs; sustained physical work in manufacturing/warehouse setting Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to follow safety and environmental procedures for handling oils and refrigerants
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) Prior experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) Familiarity with RMA / warranty return processes Knowledge of compressor types, refrigerants, and HVAC components Previous PIV / forklift operation experience
