This entry level position is designed with advancement in mind by supporting daily shop operations while learning the fundamentals of heavy equipment repair. This entry level position is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys working with their hands and is interested in developing a career in heavy equipment, diesel, and drilling equipment repair. Working alongside experienced technicians, the Shop Helper assists with shop cleanliness, equipment preparation, preventive maintenance, shop organization, parts handling, and basic mechanical tasks while developing the technical skills necessary to advance into a Mechanic I position. Responsibilities Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment. Assist mechanics with repairs, maintenance, inspections, and equipment disassembly. Clean, inspect, and prepare components for repair or reassembly. Retrieve, organize, and inventory parts, hardware, and shop supplies. Operate pressure washers, parts washers, grinders, drills, and other basic shop equipment safely. Learn proper use of hand tools, measuring tools, torque specifications, and shop equipment. Assist with preventive maintenance including fluid changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and inspections. Assist with loading, unloading, and staging equipment and materials. Support shop opening and closing procedures. Accurately complete assigned tasks and document work performed in Fullbay as directed. Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, initiative, and willingness to learn. Participate in company training and actively develop mechanical skills toward promotion into a Mechanic I role. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred (or currently working toward completion). Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to safely lift 75+ pounds. Ability to work outdoors occasionally and indoors in a shop environment. Comfortable using basic hand tools or willingness to learn. Strong work ethic and dependable attendance. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Commitment to safety, teamwork, and professional conduct. Preferred Skills Previous shop, farm, automotive, construction, or equipment experience. Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment (or willingness to become certified). Familiarity with basic power tools. Welding or fabrication experience is a plus but not required. Interest in pursuing a long-term career in heavy equipment repair.

Pay:

$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
