Duties Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on trucks, trailers, forklifts, excavators, and other heavy equipment. Conduct preventive maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, suspension work, and hydraulic system servicing to maximize equipment lifespan. Fabricate custom parts or modifications as needed using welding and hand tools to ensure equipment functions at peak efficiency. Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems such as transmissions, air brakes, electrical systems, HVAC units, and diesel engines with precision. Utilize automotive electrical system repair techniques for troubleshooting wiring issues or electronic controls on heavy machinery. Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all repairs performed in compliance with safety standards. Assist in heavy lifting and equipment assembly tasks while adhering to safety protocols to prevent injuries during maintenance procedures. Skills Proven dealership or heavy equipment mechanic experience with a strong background in vehicle maintenance and repair. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for complex machinery including Caterpillar, John Deere, or similar brands. Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding, soldering, and use of power tools for custom repairs or modifications. Extensive knowledge of heavy truck repair including diesel mechanics, transmissions, shocks & struts, suspension systems, and wheel alignment. Ability to diagnose automotive electrical systems and perform electrical repairs efficiently. Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, forklifts, and farm machinery. Familiarity with industrial equipment maintenance including hydraulics, power take-off (PTO) systems. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with drivers and team members. Capable of performing heavy lifting safely while maintaining high standards of quality during vehicle systems repair or assembly tasks.
