This position is based out of our Monroe, OH. shop and combines hands-on equipment repair with regular travel to project sites. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of mechanic experience , is comfortable troubleshooting and repairing a variety of construction equipment, and enjoys working independently in a fast-paced environment. This is a travel-intensive position. Candidates should be comfortable working approximately 40-65 hours per week , depending on project needs, with occasional weekend travel.
Job Duties:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair construction equipment in the shop and at project locations Travel to projects throughout BEAM's service territory, including national projects east of Texas and projects throughout the northern region Respond to local service calls within approximately a two-hour radius of the Monroe shop Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to keep equipment safe, reliable, and operational Maintain, organize, and restock your assigned service truck Perform routine maintenance on your service truck as needed Work on equipment in the Monroe shop during non-travel weeks Maintain your own tools and ensure they are available and ready for service work Complete required service documentation and follow established safety procedures Follow all applicable DOT laws and regulations while operating company vehicles and traveling between locations Equipment You'll Work On This role supports a wide variety of construction equipment, including: Trowel machines Generators Concrete saws Concrete vacuums Light plants Skid steers Forklifts Rough-terrain forklifts Pickup trucks Other construction and support equipment Travel & Schedule Travel is a significant part of this position. Traveling Mechanics can expect to be on the road approximately three weeks per month , although business needs may occasionally require additional travel. A typical schedule may include three weeks traveling followed by one week working from the Monroe shop . Larger projects may require up to two consecutive weeks out of town . The position typically works 40-65 hours per week depending on workload and project needs. Some Saturdays and Sundays may be required for travel to or from project locations. When working from Monroe, Traveling Mechanics support shop repairs, respond to local service calls, restock and maintain their service trucks, and prepare for upcoming assignments. What We're Looking For 3-5 years of mechanic experience preferred Experience diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing construction equipment, vehicles, or similar equipment Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability and willingness to travel regularly and stay overnight for extended assignments Ability to work extended hours when project needs require Ability to comply with all applicable DOT requirements and regulations Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively with shop and project teams Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality workmanship Must provide and maintain the personal tools necessary to perform the position What BEAM Provides Company service truck for eligible Traveling Mechanics, based on availability Per diem for qualifying out-of-town travel Annual uniform allowance Annual tool allowance Training and support before transitioning to independent field assignments Opportunity to work on a broad range of equipment and projects across multiple locations Training New Traveling Mechanics will begin with a training period at the Monroe, OH shop before independently traveling to project locations. The length of the training period will be based on the individual's previous experience, technical knowledge, and demonstrated readiness for field assignments.
