Equipment Maintenance Technician Master Steel, LLC Hardeeville, SC Job Details Full-time $25 - $35 an hour 11 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Life insurance Qualifications Fabrication Outdoor work experience Diesel mechanics Electrical work Attention to detail Hand tools Full Job Description Job Summary Master Steel is hiring an Equipment Maintenance Technician to keep our fleet of trucks, trailers, forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, and shop equipment running safely and reliably. This is a hands-on mechanic role, not a facilities position. You will spend your day diagnosing, repairing, and servicing diesel and gas powered equipment in a structural steel fabrication shop and on active job sites, working alongside our Senior Equipment Maintenance Technician. The right fit is a mechanic who understands diesel engines, is comfortable running diagnostics with Cummins INSITE or similar software, keeps a clean and organized work area, and shows up with their own tools ready to turn a wrench. Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel and gas powered vehicles and equipment, including work trucks, trailers, forklifts, telehandlers, scissor lifts, and boom lifts Perform engine diagnostics and troubleshooting using Cummins INSITE and other OEM or aftermarket diagnostic tools Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, brake, drivetrain, and fuel systems Complete scheduled preventive maintenance on all mobile equipment and vehicles, including fluids, filters, tires, and inspections Perform DOT annual inspections and keep CDL vehicles and trailers in compliant, road-ready condition Support maintenance and repair of shop equipment such as overhead cranes, air compressors, welding machines, and material handling systems Fabricate or modify brackets, mounts, and repair components using basic welding and cutting equipment Keep accurate service records, inspection reports, and parts usage for every unit Order parts and coordinate with vendors and outside repair shops when work exceeds in-house capability Maintain a clean, organized shop bay and tool area at all times Follow all company safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements Qualifications 3 or more years of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment technician, or fleet technician Working knowledge of Cummins engines and experience with Cummins INSITE or comparable diagnostic software Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills on trucks and aerial or material handling equipment Experience with rental fleet, dealership, or heavy truck service environments (such as JCB, Sunbelt, United Rentals, or similar) strongly preferred Must have your own set of hand tools Basic MIG and stick welding ability preferred Valid driver's license required; CDL Class A or B is a plus, or willingness to obtain one Clean and organized work habits with strong attention to detail Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn new equipment and take on new challenges Ability to lift 50 pounds, work in an outdoor and industrial environment, and travel occasionally to job sites in the region Equipment You Will Work On Heavy duty work trucks and tractors (Cummins and other diesel platforms) Flatbed and lowboy trailers Forklifts and rough terrain forklifts Telehandlers Scissor lifts and boom lifts Overhead cranes and rigging equipment Air compressors and pneumatic systems Welding machines and plasma cutting equipment Skid steers and other support equipment Schedule Monday through Friday 40 to 50 hours per week Occasional Saturdays as needed Compensation and Benefits $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications Weekly pay Paid holidays and paid time off 401(k) with company matching Health, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance Room to grow with a stable and expanding structural steel company About Master Steel Master Steel is an AISC-certified structural steel fabricator and erector based in Hardeeville, SC.
