Role Overview:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will support the maintenance, repair, modification, and retrofit activities for Abrams family tanks , including the

M1A1 SA, M1A2 SEP

V2, and SEP V3 variants. The role involves performing preventive maintenance, installing modification work orders, troubleshooting vehicle systems, and supporting maintenance operations in both field and shop environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on Abrams tanks. Install modification work orders (MWOs) on M1A1 and M1A2 Abrams variants. Read and interpret troubleshooting, diagnostic procedures, and system flow diagrams. Troubleshoot systems, subsystems, and components. Maintain accountability of special tools, test equipment, and property. Support maintenance, fielding, and retrofit activities. Work effectively with government personnel and within a team-oriented environment. Perform other maintenance duties as assigned by leadership.

Required Qualifications:

1+ year of general mechanical maintenance experience ; Abrams tank experience is highly preferred. Basic knowledge of tools and test equipment used for military vehicle maintenance. High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be able to obtain access to U.S. military facilities/bases, including NACI clearance if required. Valid state driver's license and ability to obtain a tank driver's license . Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to climb, work at heights, and work in extreme temperatures/weather conditions. Must meet the anthropometric requirements for entry into the driver's station/enclosed military vehicle. Ability to travel as required to support GDLS maintenance and retrofit activities. Must successfully pass the Job Proficiency Certification for Abrams fleet vehicles . Ability to work independently with government personnel.

Pay:

$28.00 - $31.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
