Duties Perform comprehensive inspections on trailers, including brakes, suspensions, axles, electrical systems, hydraulics, and air brake systems to identify issues early. Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery using hand tools and power tools. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical problems with Caterpillar and other industrial equipment. Replace or repair reefer, brakes, wheel seals, light, shocks & struts, wheel alignments, frame components, and suspension components to ensure optimal vehicle performance. Carry out welding and fabrication tasks for trailer modifications or repairs to meet safety standards. Operate heavy machinery like excavators or cranes when necessary for equipment repairs or installations. Maintain detailed service records, complete diagnostic reports, and ensure all work complies with safety regulations including vehicle maintenance standards for diesel engines and HVAC systems. Skills Proven experience working in a dealer environment or heavy equipment repair shop with strong mechanical knowledge. Familiarity with schematics reading for complex machinery such as tractor-trailers or industrial equipment. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques for repairs and fabrication. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during tire service or suspension repairs. Knowledge of diesel mechanics, air brake systems, HVAC components, and automotive electrical systems is highly desirable. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients regarding repairs or maintenance needs.
