Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ammonia refrigeration systems used in large-scale industrial or commercial facilities. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient operation of refrigeration equipment, supporting our commitment to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence. Duties Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems and associated mechanical equipment. Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, electrical diagrams, and HVAC system drawings to diagnose issues accurately. Perform electrical diagnostics and equipment troubleshooting using tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters to identify faults in electrical systems. Conduct preventative maintenance on refrigeration units, HVAC systems, boilers, plumbing, building automation systems, and other mechanical systems. Ensure compliance with safety standards including EPA regulations related to refrigerants and ammonia handling procedures. Collaborate with team members to execute HVAC system installation projects and upgrades efficiently. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used within the program the company uses. Support property maintenance efforts by addressing air conditioning issues and ensuring the overall integrity of mechanical systems. Operate a company vehicle safely for service calls and routine inspections while adhering to all transportation safety protocols. Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status and recommended solutions. Requirements Proven experience as an ammonia refrigeration technician or in HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration) service roles with construction or property maintenance backgrounds. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience repairing HVAC systems, refrigeration units, boilers, plumbing, electrical systems, and building automation systems. Ability to read schematics accurately and perform electrical diagnostics using specialized tools such as ohmmeters. Familiarity with HVAC system repair, installation procedures, equipment troubleshooting techniques, and mechanical systems repair. Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration safety protocols and EPA certification related to refrigerant handling is preferred. Experience working with HVAC design plans and schematics is highly desirable. Proficiency with hand tools necessary for mechanical repairs and system adjustments. Excellent customer service skills coupled with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating a van or service vehicle is preferred. $20.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
