Responsibilities Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and mechanical systems. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and HVAC design plans to accurately execute installations and repairs. Diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and electrical testing devices; perform electrical diagnostics on HVAC/R systems. Conduct plumbing work related to HVAC systems, including pipe fitting and drainage connections. Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure optimal operation and energy efficiency. Troubleshoot complex mechanical problems using mechanical knowledge and equipment repair techniques; identify root causes of system failures. Communicate effectively with customers to explain repairs, provide maintenance advice, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Maintain accurate service records, complete detailed reports on work performed, and adhere to safety protocols at all times. Operate company vehicles safely as a van driver; ensure timely arrival at job sites with all necessary tools and parts. Skills Construction experience combined with hands-on service technician background in HVAC or related fields. Strong understanding of schematics, HVAC design principles, building automation systems, electrical systems, and refrigeration technology. Proficiency in HVAC system repair, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems. Knowledge of plumbing practices relevant to HVAC applications; familiarity with boiler systems is a plus. Ability to diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters; perform electrical diagnostics confidently. Mechanical knowledge of HVAC/R equipment repair along with the use of hand tools for precise work. Experience working with HVAC system controls including building automation systems for efficient operation management. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally. Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; familiarity with electrical diagnostics and appliance repair is advantageous. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining safety standards at all times.
