NO REQUIRED ON-CALL
Heatwave AC, Plumbing & Electrical is hiring an HVAC Service & Sales Technician. This is not a parts-changing technician position. This is also not a comfort advisor position for someone who can't diagnose an air conditioning system. We are looking for an experienced HVAC professional who can walk into a customer's home, diagnose the system correctly, identify the real problems, explain what is happening, present solutions, and close the work. You need to be equally comfortable with a meter in your hand and sitting at the kitchen table discussing a $15,000 system replacement. If you know HVAC, understand people, can communicate value, and know how to close, this position gives you the opportunity to get paid based on what you produce. If you need someone constantly pushing you, checking behind you, or telling you what to do next, this isn't the position.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
You'll run a combination of: HVAC service and diagnostic calls System replacement opportunities Turnovers from maintenance technicians Second-opinion calls No-cool calls Indoor air quality opportunities Ductwork and airflow opportunities System performance evaluations Repair-versus-replace opportunities Company-generated sales leads Your responsibility is to solve the customer's problem and generate revenue while doing it. That means you don't walk into a house, replace a capacitor, collect the ticket, and leave without paying attention to everything else happening with the system. You evaluate the entire system.
YOU NEED TO ACTUALLY KNOW HVAC
We expect you to understand: Refrigeration cycle and system diagnostics Superheat and subcooling Static pressure Airflow Temperature split Blower performance Duct systems Electrical diagnostics Motors, capacitors and controls Drainage and condensate issues Indoor air quality Equipment sizing fundamentals System efficiency Repair versus replacement economics We don't shotgun parts. We diagnose. If the compressor is failing, you should be able to explain why. If airflow is wrong, you should be able to prove it. If static pressure is excessive, you should know how to measure it and determine what's causing it. If the duct system is the problem, don't sell the customer another piece of equipment and leave the real problem behind.
YOU ALSO NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SELL
Being technically strong isn't enough for this position. You need to be able to: Build trust quickly Explain technical problems in plain English Document and show customers what you find Present repair and replacement options Present good, better and best solutions when appropriate Discuss price without getting uncomfortable Handle objections Ask for the business Close repairs Close system replacements Sell ductwork and system improvements Sell indoor air quality solutions Follow up on open opportunities Use financing effectively We are looking for a deal maker who happens to know
HVAC. FINANCING IS PART OF THE SALES PROCESS
When a homeowner needs a major repair or system replacement, your job isn't to assume they can't afford it. Your job is to give them options. Heatwave has multiple financing partners , giving you solutions for customers ranging from excellent credit to challenged credit. You need to understand how financing works, know when to introduce it, and be comfortable showing homeowners payment options that make larger projects easier to purchase.
WE GIVE YOU THE TOOLS TO PRODUCE
We provide: Company van Gas card Company iPad Company-generated service calls Maintenance technician turnovers Replacement opportunities Multiple customer financing programs Established customer database Office and dispatch support HVAC, plumbing and electrical cross-trade opportunities No required on-call rotation If you want additional on-call opportunities and want to make more money, they're available.
WHO WE WANT
We're looking for someone who is: Experienced in residential HVAC service Technically strong Strong at system diagnostics Comfortable selling repairs and replacements Comfortable running HVAC sales calls Experienced with financing Able to close large-ticket projects Strong with customers Professional inside the home Competitive Organized Self-motivated Accountable Comfortable working in Florida attics Not afraid to get dirty Able to manage their own opportunities Focused on production You must have a clean driving record and be able to pass our hiring requirements.
THIS POSITION IS NOT FOR EVERY HVAC TECH
If your mindset is: "I'm a technician. Selling isn't my job." "I'll diagnose it and let somebody else sell it." "I don't like talking about money." "I gave them the price. They said they'll think about it." "I don't believe in financing." This isn't your position. We're looking for someone who understands that residential HVAC service is about diagnosing problems, communicating solutions and helping homeowners make decisions. Technical ability gets you credibility. Your ability to communicate, present solutions and close determines what you produce.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You show up prepared. You diagnose correctly. You measure instead of guessing. You check airflow and static pressure. You look at the entire system. You identify legitimate problems and opportunities. You document what you find. You explain the problems clearly. You give the homeowner options. You offer financing. You ask for the business. You close work. You produce revenue. And you get rewarded based on what you produce.
APPLY IF YOU CAN PRODUCE
We're not looking for someone who simply wants another HVAC job. We're looking for a long-term producer who wants to build with the company and make serious money. When applying, be prepared to tell us: Years of residential HVAC service experience Average service ticket Average monthly revenue produced Repair close rate System replacement close rate Average replacement ticket Typical monthly system replacement sales Experience with maintenance-tech turnovers Experience selling ductwork and IAQ Experience using customer financing Your best production month and what you produced A successful selling technician knows their numbers. If you don't know your numbers, this probably isn't the position for you. If you're technically strong, know how to communicate, know how to close, and want your income tied to your performance, apply.
