Job Description

Put your experience to work where your judgment is respected and your ideas can help shape a growing service team. You can take common residential and light commercial service calls from diagnosis through verified repair without routine supervision. You explain the work clearly to the customer and leave useful readings, photos, and notes. Family-owned HVAC company serving South Florida since 1977. We plan to expand over the next two years and are hiring an experienced service technician who wants to help improve how we work and grow with the company. Our approach starts with careful diagnostics and a repair-first mindset. We explain options honestly and recommend work based on what the customer and the equipment actually need. What doing the job well looks like You diagnose with evidence. You troubleshoot electrical, airflow, drainage, refrigerant, and control issues on residential and light commercial equipment, including split systems, heat pumps, and ductless systems. You use measurements, wiring diagrams, equipment history, and manufacturer information to identify the cause. You follow the work through. You complete repairs and maintenance carefully, test operation afterward, and confirm whether the problem has been resolved. Your digital service notes include relevant readings, photos, parts used, and next steps. You help customers understand. You listen, explain findings in everyday language, answer questions respectfully, and obtain approval before additional work. You remain professional when someone is frustrated or concerned about cost. You keep people informed. You arrive prepared, manage your calls, keep work moving, and communicate promptly when a job needs more time, the schedule changes, or a customer concern needs attention. You take ownership. When a diagnosis needs another opinion, you ask. When something goes wrong or a callback occurs, you share what you found and help resolve it. You stay open to feedback and share useful knowledge with teammates. You respect the worksite. You protect customers' property, leave work areas clean, and follow safe work and refrigerant-handling practices. Customer communication, complete service notes, and coordination with the office are essential parts of this position. If you prefer a role that does not include those responsibilities, this position is unlikely to be the right fit. What you'll need At least five years of hands-on HVAC service, diagnostic, and repair experience, including independently handling residential and light commercial service calls. The ability to diagnose common service problems, complete the repair, and verify system operation without routine supervision. EPA Section 608 certification: Type II or Universal; Universal preferred. A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Clear, courteous communication and the ability to use a smartphone or tablet for job documentation. The ability to perform essential field duties, including accessing equipment in attics and on rooftops, with or without reasonable accommodation. Commercial refrigeration experience and additional HVAC certifications are a plus. How we determine your starting pay Your starting rate within the $35-$50 hourly range reflects your relevant experience, diagnostic ability, equipment knowledge, and the responsibilities you can handle. The upper end is intended for senior technicians who resolve complex or recurring problems, work across a broader range of equipment, and support or mentor other technicians. We plan to add employee benefits as the business grows and will share the details and timing as they are confirmed. What you can build You've invested years in learning this trade. If you're looking for more say in how the work gets done and room to grow, we'd like to talk. We respect your technical judgment and welcome ideas that improve service for customers and the team. As we expand, strong workmanship, follow-through, and customer care will guide opportunities for greater responsibility. That may include mentoring technicians and moving toward leadership roles as positions become available. We're committed to supporting continued learning and want experienced technicians to help shape the standards of our growing team.
