Duties Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and mechanical systems. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and building automation system diagrams to diagnose issues accurately. Perform electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters to identify faults within electrical components of HVAC equipment. Conduct plumbing work related to HVAC systems, including refrigerant charging and ammonia refrigeration maintenance where applicable. Maintain compliance with EPA regulations by handling refrigerants responsibly and performing necessary recovery procedures. Diagnose mechanical failures in HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration) units and execute repairs efficiently to minimize downtime. Collaborate with property managers or clients to assess system needs, recommend upgrades or replacements, and assist with HVAC design considerations for new installations or renovations. Operate welding equipment when necessary for ductwork or component repairs; utilize building automation systems for system optimization. Maintain detailed service records, reports, and logs of all maintenance activities for accountability and future reference. Ensure all work complies with safety standards including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adherence to OSHA guidelines. Skills Proven experience in construction or property maintenance environments with a focus on HVAC systems. Service technician experience with hands-on repair of mechanical systems and appliances. Strong understanding of schematics, blueprints, and building automation systems related to HVAC/R equipment. Knowledge of HVAC design principles for system upgrades or new installations. Proficiency in plumbing tasks associated with refrigerant lines and ammonia refrigeration systems. Electrical diagnostics skills using tools such as ohmmeters; ability to troubleshoot electrical faults efficiently. Familiarity with refrigeration cycles, air conditioning units, boilers, and mechanical systems repair techniques. Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; experience working with ammonia refrigeration is a plus. Mechanical knowledge encompassing welding techniques and equipment repair procedures. Experience with field service operations including troubleshooting on-site issues promptly. Ability to operate a driver license or equivalent for transportation between job sites.
