Facilities Manager Description:

The Mechanical Systems Technician is responsible for supporting the reliability, safety, and longevity of Itasca Country Club's facilities and critical building systems. This is a hands-on Facilities role with a strong emphasis on technical expertise. The highest priority is commercial refrigeration and cooling systems, followed by HVAC, plumbing, and electrical troubleshooting. The position also supports preventative maintenance, repairs, equipment reliability, and the wide variety of day-to-day facility needs that arise throughout the Club. While technical expertise is the primary value of this position, the Mechanical Systems Technician is a member of the overall Facilities team. At times, the work may include assembling furniture, moving equipment or supplies, completing general repairs, assisting with installations, or supporting Club projects and events. Accountability:

• Refrigeration & Cooling Systems
• Maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial coolers, freezers, ice machines, and related refrigeration and cooling systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections to maximize reliability and equipment life.
• Identify developing issues before they result in equipment failure, product loss, or operational disruption.
• Reduce reliance on outside service providers when repairs can safely and effectively be completed in-house.
• HVAC Systems
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the Club's HVAC systems, including rooftop units and associated equipment and controls.
• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and diagnose heating, cooling, airflow, control, and mechanical issues.
• Perform appropriate repairs and component replacements and coordinate specialized contractors when necessary.
• Plumbing & Mechanical Systems
• Maintain and troubleshoot the Club's plumbing and mechanical infrastructure, with particular attention to the ongoing needs of an aging facility.
• Diagnose and repair leaks, fixtures, valves, drains, pumps, piping, water heaters, and related equipment.
• Identify recurring issues and recommend proactive solutions to reduce failures and protect Club assets.
• Electrical & Equipment Troubleshooting
• Provide hands-on troubleshooting and repair support for electrical components, controls, motors, and other building equipment.
• Safely complete repairs appropriate for the position's experience and qualifications and recognize when licensed or specialized contractors are required.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial restaurant cooking and foodservice equipment is highly valued.
• General Facilities & Operational Support
• Support the Facilities team with general repairs, furniture assembly, moving equipment and supplies, installations, event support, seasonal projects, and other facility needs.
• Assist with basic carpentry and woodworking, televisions, electronics, and AV-related installations or troubleshooting when capable.
• Understand that general Facilities responsibilities are an important part of the position while maintaining appropriate priority on work requiring specialized technical expertise.
• Preventative Maintenance & Asset Stewardship
• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance accurately and on time across assigned building systems and equipment.
• Maintain service histories and document repairs, recurring issues, parts replaced, and equipment condition.
• Communicate emerging concerns and provide technical insight to support capital planning and equipment replacement decisions.
• Measure success not only by equipment repaired, but by equipment failures prevented.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Professional experience in commercial refrigeration, HVAC, facilities maintenance, mechanical systems, or a related skilled trade.
• Strong commercial refrigeration and cooling troubleshooting and repair experience strongly preferred and considered the highest technical priority.
• Demonstrated HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
• Strong working knowledge of plumbing systems.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting related to mechanical and building equipment.
• Experience with commercial restaurant cooking and foodservice equipment is preferred.
• Experience with pumps, motors, controls, carpentry, woodworking, televisions, AV equipment, electronics, or general building maintenance is a plus.
• Ability to independently diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate solutions.
• Ability to distinguish between work that can be safely completed in-house and work requiring licensed or specialized contractors.
• Strong preventative maintenance mindset, attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Availability & Emergency Response :

Due to the critical nature of the Club's mechanical systems and year-round operations, this position requires flexibility to respond to urgent facility or equipment issues outside of normal working hours. The Mechanical Systems Technician will serve as a primary technical contact for after-hours mechanical emergencies and is expected to be reasonably available, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, when critical Club systems require immediate attention.

• Willingness to perform both highly technical work and routine Facilities responsibilities based on the needs of the Club. In a typical week you might:
• Diagnose and repair a commercial cooler or ice machine.
• Complete preventative maintenance on a rooftop HVAC unit.
• Troubleshoot a recurring plumbing issue in an aging section of the Club.
• Diagnose an electrical control, motor, or equipment issue.
• Assist with troubleshooting a piece of commercial kitchen or cooking equipment.
• Document completed maintenance and flag an aging asset for future capital planning.
• Assemble a desk, mount a television, or complete a general facility repair.
• Move equipment or supplies to support a Club event or operational need.
• Coordinate with an outside contractor when specialized or licensed work is required.
• Respond to an unexpected mechanical failure and help keep Club operations running.
