In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining sheet metal components that form the backbone of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), refrigeration, and other mechanical systems. Your expertise will ensure that building environments are comfortable, safe, and energy-efficient. Responsibilities Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to accurately install sheet metal components for HVAC systems, ductwork, and related mechanical systems. Install HVAC system components including ductwork, ventilation systems, and related equipment in commercial or residential buildings. Troubleshoot and repair HVAC/R equipment using electrical diagnostics, ohmmeters, welding tools, and other hand tools to ensure optimal system performance. Perform maintenance on mechanical systems such as boilers, refrigeration units, air conditioning units, and building automation systems to maximize efficiency and lifespan. Collaborate with project teams to ensure installations meet safety standards, building codes, and client specifications while maintaining a high level of customer service. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues related to electrical systems, plumbing connections, or mechanical components during service calls or installations. Conduct field service tasks including equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and system upgrades with a focus on HVAC system repair and maintenance. Requirements Proven construction experience with a strong background in installing or repairing HVAC or mechanical systems. Service technician experience in HVAC/R or refrigeration environments is highly desirable. Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals accurately. Mechanical knowledge covering HVAC design principles, plumbing connections, electrical diagnostics, and equipment troubleshooting. Proficiency with hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, welding equipment, ohmmeters, and other specialized tools required for installation and repair work. Experience working with HVAC system installation—including ductwork fabrication—and performing maintenance on mechanical systems like boilers or ammonia refrigeration units. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with clients and team members. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience operating driver vehicles preferred. Certifications such as EPA refrigerant handling certification are required; additional certifications in electrical systems or building automation are a plus. Knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), and property maintenance practices is advantageous.
